Richard Meehan

RM Meehan is a highly-experienced composer, arranger, conductor, educator and multi-instrumentalist. His career has spanned the widest range of musical disciplines, and he has led musicians of all levels, always with the intention of producing the best possible results. His compositional approach emphasizes craftsmanship, the ability to span genres, and a wry sense of humour, firmly affirming Leonard Bernstein’s opinion that:

“There is no serious music or un-serious music, just good music and bad music.”

Collaborating with drummer Paul Glover, bassist James Newman and electronics wiz Jon Bierman, Richard latest project is ‘Rich Meehan Trio

They released their debut EP Suite Antique in the summer of 2022 gaining major support from Jazz FM (Dinner Jazz track of the week, and playlist) as well as support from the likes of Backseat Mafia, EARMILK and BBC Introducing.

Richard has written and produced music for TV, Film & Theatre including two albums for JW Media Music which continue to be used extensively on US Cable Channels and notably by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”

Richard also enjoys scoring for film and has written and produced a range of theatre scores for professional and amateur productions.

Educator 

A passionate educator, Richard has been privileged to work alongside a number of remarkable young people who have already gone on to achieve success as professional musicians. He follows the careers of his former students with pride.

Choral Works

Meehan’s regularly works with several choirs in his hometown of Reading. Having formerly sung in the choirs of Queens’ College Cambridge and Derby Cathedral, he is well versed in the English choral tradition.
